Dedicated To Caring For Our Lumber Products
Currently, our total kiln capacity is over 1,300,000 board feed. Lumber is graded before and after kiln drying and often a third time during sorting and/or planing. Hartzell Hardwoods also operates two pre-dryers with a combined capacity of over 1,750,000 board feet. Two separate high-tech stacker / grader stations with bin sorters were installed in 1995 and 2007. Both of these have allowed us to more than double our production and offer more width sorting options with tolerances as low as 1/100”. Hartzell Hardwoods also has the facilities to surface (S2S), straight-line rip, and rip to width lumber for customers requiring these services. All lumber is processed at one location, so customers can be assured of consistent quality. Each order is produced to customer specifications after receipt to assure that the shipment contains exactly what the customer requested.
Hartzell employees are dedicated to caring for the product. Indicative of this commitment, we have one full-time employee operating an industrial street sweeper to keep the yard free from dirt and dust, which helps to minimize lumber defects. All facilities have concrete
foundations and most species air-dry in sheds surrounded by Shade-Dry®, which helps to maintain a bright, even color and to minimize defects.
