Hartzell Hardwoods is proud to be known throughout the world as a leading producer of fine walnut lumber as well as top quality thick red and white oak lumber. As our history depicts, Hartzell is known to be an innovator and leader in the Hardwood Industry.

Hartzell Hardwoods produces 12 million board feet of lumber annually, of which 5-6 million board feet is exported each year to customers throughout Europe, Mexico, the Far East and the Middle East.

We operate 34 kilns with a total capacity of 1,220,000 board feet. Lumber is graded before and after kiln drying and often a third time during sorting and/or planing. Hartzell Hardwoods also operates a 750,000 board foot pre-drier. A high-tech stacker/grader station, installed in 1995, allows us to offer width sorting to tolerances as low as 1/100". Hartzell Hardwoods also has the facilities to surface (S2S) and straight-line rip lumber for customers requiring these services. All lumber is processed at one location, so customers can be assured of consistent quality. Each order is produced to customer specifications after receipt to assure that the shipment contains exactly what the customer requested.

Hartzell employees are dedicated to caring for the product. Indicative of this commitment, we have one full-time employee operating an industrial street sweeper to keep the yard free from dirt and dust, which helps to minimize lumber defects. All facilities have concrete foundations and most species air-dry in sheds surrounded by Shade-DryŽ, which helps to maintain a bright, even color and to minimize defects.

Hartzell Hardwoods has long been active in the National Hardwood Lumber Association, the Hardwood Manufacturers Association, the Indiana Hardwood Lumber Association, the American Walnut Manufacturers Association and the Ohio Forestry Association.

Long recognized as a worldwide leader in Walnut and top quality thick lumber, Hartzell Hardwood's philosophy continues to be characterized by Innovation, Quality and Integrity.
